Chatushpada Karana is one of the 11 Karanas. This Karana is appropriate for strenuous and unusual tasks. This Karana belongs to the category of less auspicious Karanas. It occurs during the Amavasya Tithi. As per scriptures, misdeeds are carried out in this Karana.
Chatushpada Karana occurs in the first half of Amavasya Tithi. This Karan is also not accepted as a good Muhurat due to a lack of auspiciousness.
Donations, charity, Mantra recitation are considered auspicious during this Karana. Once can donate food and items according to the capability in the name of ancestors. The occurrence of Chatushpada Karana during Amavasya makes it favourable for performing laborious and spiritual work. Studying Tantra scriptures, performing Tantric tasks, Tamasic and Maran Karma etc. can be done in this Karana. Hypnotising animals and getting work done from them can also be done during this Karana. Shraddha Karma i.e. Tarpan etc. are also done in Chatushpad Karan.
